STEP 1: Cleaning your tattoo
Once the second skin or other bandage is removed, use a gentle cleanser such as our Tattoo Recovery Cleanser to gently clean the surface area of the tattoo. Our specialty, natural tattoo cleansing formula helps to wash off excess plasma and other contaminants that might have settled in under the bandage. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water, and avoid wearing tight clothing or rough fabrics.
STEP 2: Moisturizing your tattoo
24 hours after you remove the bandage and clean up the tattoo, It’s time to begin moisturizing. It’s important to note how naturally dry or oily your skin is and moisturize the area the appropriate amount. Use enough lotion to lightly cover the tattoo, but not so much that it is covered in a thick layer. Be careful not to over-moisturize; 2-3 times /day is best, but depending on your skin type, you may need to apply more or less frequently. After moisturizing, your skin should not have any sort of sheen or glimmer from leftover lotion, the goal is to moisturize just enough to avoid skin cracking. Continue this step for 2 - 3 weeks total.
STEP 3: - It’s healed! (well not really)
Its been 2 - 3 weeks since you’ve gotten your new tattoo, all healed up now right? Nope!
Generally, healing a tattoo takes around 6 weeks. During these 6 weeks it’s very important that you avoid direct or indirect sunlight, full submerging in water for long periods of time, cuts or scrapes, and .
After about 2 - 3 weeks, your skin will have recovered mostly back to normal, and at this stage, an oil based moisturizer is ideal to help your skin retain its natural moisture throughout the day. If you have naturally dry skin however, you can continue using our Tattoo Hydrating Lotion in your daily skin-care routine, and our Tattoo Revitalizing Balm as an on-the-go moisturizer.
STEP 4: - NOW it's healed!
NOW it’s healed. Finally! While that’s about it for general aftercare, have you thought about after the aftercare?
