I thought I was done with the aftercare?
Yes and no, the general aftercare is all done during the healing phase of the tattoo. However there are some steps that you can take to ensure your tattoos are going to maintain their vibrancy and boldness over time.
Sun protection
UV rays are any tattoos' worst enemy, even if you don’t regularly use sunscreen, its incredibly important to apply to your healed tattoos to keep them from fading. Even with sunscreen, fading is inevitable, for the most part, wear coverups or stay in shady areas if you can.
Ongoing moisturizing
Maintaining moisture in the skin helps make sure that the skin layers don't break down. Over time this is what causes tattoos to look "blown out" or more faded than they are. Using an oil based moisturizer in your everyday skincare routine can help tremendously, this will help your skin maintain it's natural pH levels.
Yeah, it's really that easy.
Obviously your ink is going to end up fading over time, that's natural. But there are steps you can take to delay the process as long as possible.
